On behalf of the organizing committee, it is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the 7th Power Electronics & Drives, Systems and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC) which will be held on 16-18, February 2016 at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran, Iran. The conference is jointly sponsored by IUST, Power Electronics Society of Iran (PESI) and IEEE Iran section.
During the past seven years, the PEDSTC has
achieved steady growth which is evident from the support received from
the academia and industry. We hope this event could provide an excellent
opportunity for exchanging ideas, experiments and information, and also
it could accelerate promoting collaboration on related topics and bring together members from the society of researchers, industrialists and government agencies.
The conference tries to include technical presentations covering
different topics of current interest in the fields of Design, Analysis,
Modeling and Control of Power Electronics Systems, Power Converters,
Motor Drives and Motion Control Systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies,
Pulsed Power Supplies, Power Quality and Utility Interface issues,
Electric Machines, Distributed Generation and Renewable Energy Systems,
EMI/EMC issues.
In addition, two distinguished keynote speakers will attend in PEDSTC’16 to
represent a variety of important topics on state-of-the-art research
that provide new insights into power electronics, drives and many other
applications.
In this conference, for the first time, we have two
special sessions. The subject of the first session is "Predictive
Control for Power Converters and Drives" and it is conducted by our
colleagues, Professor Jose Rodriguez, Dr. Marco Rivera from Chile,
and Dr. Davari from Iran. The subject of the second special session is
"Power Electronics in Distributed Generation Systems and Microgrids" and
it is managed by our colleagues, Professor Josep M. Guerrero, Dr. Juan C. Vasquez and Dr. Mahdi Savaghebi from University of Aalborg, Denmark.
This year, we have received encouraging responses from academic
colleagues, graduate students and fellow researchers from industries that
resulted in 210 submitted papers, from which 114 papers were accepted
for oral or poster presentation. The technical committee of the PEDSTC has
conducted the review process of this papers with the help of many
academic colleagues from different universities and research centers
from all around the world.
Organizing such a conference would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of many individuals. The 7th PEDSTC is indebted to hundreds of volunteers who contributed to the
various processes that make up the conference and it would not be
possible for me to name them all in this short message. But first of all, I would like to thank Iran University of Science and
Technology for supporting this conference and all of the facilities
which we have received from them, to organize this event.
The organizing committee would like to thank all the colleagues and experts that have contributed to the 7th PEDSTC. We hope that their valuable supports will be continued in the future PEDSTCs in coming years.
Also I would like to express my gratitude to our sponsors, exhibitors
and supporters for their contribution to the conference.
It
has been a great privilege for me to serve as the General Chair of
PEDSTC2016 and it is my hope that this conference could be motivating
for our scientific society, helpful for research and development offices
and industries, and also it can help us to establish a bridge between
academia and industry. At the end I wish success and joy for all of you
during the conference in Tehran.
